Kate grew up on a goat farm in the middle of somewhere, Ontario before living in Paris as an Au Pair, Toronto as an international tour guide, Montreal as a student, and finally Glasgow as a comedian and writer.

As a stand up, Kate was a finalist for the Funny Women Award 2025, and is debuting at the 2026 Fringe Festival at Monkey Barrel Comedy with her show Kate Hammer: Government Approved Comedian. She has opened for Sam Lake, Mark Nelson, Susan Calman, Paul Black, and Karen Dunbar and performed at Latitude Festival, Just for Laughs, 2000 Trees, and Kelburn Garden Party. She’s a regular on Breaking the News, BBC Radio, and a host and performer at clubs around the country. She is also the host and producer of shows like All Mouth Comedy, The Very Important Panel Show, and Get Your Goat Comedy Live.

In the TV world, Kate has worked with EastEnders, River City, and on some projects she can’t tell you about yet because they’re about to happen, fingers crossed. As a filmmaker, Kate has written and directed numerous shorts and BBC Short Stuff, and even a music video. Fun!
